Kids Christmas Activity Set

I always loved activity books as a kid so I created this cute Activity Set project for Better Homes and Gardens to entertain the kids on Christmas Day!

Dailylike Christmas Activity Set DIY Project

The project uses fabric and trims from our Christmas Sewing Sets and I made a mini activity book that you can print at home.

The activities include drawing and word games around the Christmas theme, plus some colouring and tic-tac-ho!

This makes a special treat for Christmas day.  I hope you give this project a go!

Wondering what to do with your ever-growing collection of washi tapes? Here’s a cute project I created for Better Homes and Gardens to show how quick and easy it is to use washi tape to make something wonderful!

Easy Christmas Cards made with Washi Tape by Dailylike

Using a great mix of Christmas themed washi tapes, these DIY cards are simple enough for the kids to join in (which means novice crafters can do it too!).

You’ll find the project on the BHG Shop website. Click here to download the free project sheet and printable template. Have fun making!

Project : DIY Countdown Frame

Dailylike Countdown Frame DIY Project

My niece is starting school this year and I thought it would be a wonderful experience if she could visually countdown to her very first day of school. So I created this cute little countdown frame in her favourite colours (pink and purple of course!) to help her keep track of the number of sleeps to go. I also wanted it to be re-usable for future countdowns, so by using washi tape and a chalk pen on the glass she can easily remove and re-use for many more exciting events to come!

Skill Level:

1 x Large Photo Frame (we used a B4 frame which is 257 x 364mm)
1 x Large Card Stock cut to the size of your frame (in our case 257 x 364mm)
Fabric Stickers of your choice (we used Dot Ground Lilac and Dot Ground Light Pink)
Washi Tape of your choice (we used Peony)
1 x A4 Coloured Paper
1 x Whiteboard Marker or Chalk Pen
1 x Small Kraft Ziplock Bag
Scissors, Double-sided Tape, and a Pencil

Dailylike Countdown Frame - Materials

Step One

Draw the letters of your child’s name on the reverse side of the fabric sticker then cut out with your scissors. Remember to draw your letters backwards so that they are the correct way when you stick them.

Dailylike Countdown Frame - Step One

Step Two

Download our free Countdown Frame printable and print it onto your A4 coloured paper. Cut out each piece with your scissors. We allowed a little gap from the black lines to give a 1-2mm border.

Dailylike Countdown Frame - Step Two

Step Three

Layout the letters and paper pieces on your card stock and add any other shapes or decoration that your child is fond of. When you are happy with the layout, peel the backing from the fabric sticker letters and attach, followed by the paper pieces with double-sided tape.

Dailylike Countdown Frame - Step Three

Step Four

Draw the first initial onto some fabric sticker and stick this onto the kraft ziplock bag (you can also add other shapes, etc). Cover your whiteboard marker or chalk pen with fabric sticker so that it all matches, then pop it into the kraft ziplock bag along with your washi tape.

Dailylike Countdown Frame - Step Four

Step Five

Remove the backing of your frame and insert the countdown card behind the glass, then you are done!

Dailylike Countdown Frame - Step Five

To use the Countdown Frame

Just write the special event with your whiteboard marker or chalk pen on the glass (within the long rectangle space), then create your number of sleeps with your washi tape. The washi tape is tearable so you don’t need any scissors, and you can use different sized lengths to create patterns and shapes. Each morning your child can remove the previous number and create the new number of sleeps to go. Then after you reach the special day you can simply wipe off the event with a cloth and start a new countdown!

Dailylike Countdown Frame DIY Project

There are so many exciting things in a child’s life that they can countdown to, and this is a great way for them to learn the space of time and also get a little creative each morning!

Project : Give a little love this ANZAC Day

Dailylike Anzac Cookie Recipe Homepage Image

With ANZAC Day coming up, we thought it would be a good opportunity to create something that you can share with your friends and family. After all, good times with your loved ones is one of the basic rights our brave soldiers fought for all those years ago.

We’ve put a new spin on giving a ready-to-eat kind of baked gift. On this occasion it’s time for your recipients to get their hands dirty – in a yummy sugar and buttery kind of way.

Dailylike Anzac Cookie Recipe

This bundle of goodness we’ve created has all the staples you need to make some delicious ANZAC cookies, packaged all cute-like in one of our Large Pillow Boxes and Cotton Ribbon. We’ve made it super easy for you to share this gift with your loved ones by providing you with a free downloadable label and recipe template. How good is that?!

By packaging up all the dry ingredients in ready-to-use quantities, we’ve also made baking these a cinch. Your lucky recipient just needs to mix them all together, add a few wet items, and they’ll be pulling delicious ANZAC cookies out of the oven before they know it. In our humble opinion, there are few things better than a house that smells of freshly baked goods.

You’ll Need
1 x Large Pillow Box – Fresh
1 x Cotton Ribbon – Dot
1-2 x sheets Tissue Paper in your choice of colour
1 x sheet of A4 Kraft Paper (or similar)
Double-sided tape
Clear cello bags
Adhesive tape e.g. Plain Cellotape, Washi Tape or Fabric Tape

1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 cups desiccated coconut
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons bicarbonate soda

This makes 1 package. Making more? Just multiply above supplies as required.

First, print your free printable onto your kraft paper.  Cut out labels, recipe cards and belly band.  We recommend cutting your belly band first.  To do this, turn over the print out so you can mark out measurements on the back side without marking the front of the design.  Rule a line horizontally across the page 1cm from the top rim of the page.  Rule a second line 4cm from the rim.  This will mark the edges of your  bellyband (it should be 3cm in width).  Cut your band and then score it 4.8cm from each end to make neat folds.  See diagram.

Alex Mae Anzac Cookie Labels Cut Out

Cut small pieces of double sided tape and place on the back side of your ingredient labels.  We recommend doing this close to the edge of the label to stop them peeling back once applied to the cello bags.

Anzac Labels with Alex Mae Double Sided Tape

Next measure out all your ingredients and place into your resealable plastic cello bags.  We used 125mm x 200mm bags for the oats, desiccated coconut and plain flour, and 100mm x 150mm for the brown sugar.  We found a tiny cello bag that we cut down to size for the bicarbonate soda, that we then sealed with washi tape. Peel the backing from your double sided tape and attach the labels to finish off.

Umm… How cute do these look?!

Anzac Cookie Ingredient Sachets

Anzac Cookies Oats Sachet Up Close

Once this is done, you’re ready to package them all up!  Grab your tissue paper (or other wrap of your choice), cotton ribbon and adhesive tape. Wrapping up the ingredients will stop them from moving around inside the pillow box too much and make it easier for your recipient to remove them.  It also looks much prettier!

Lay your ingredients out on the tissue paper, making sure they will fit into the pillow box.  Depending on the size of the cello bags that you use, you’ll probably have to overlay them as we have done in order to make them fit.

Wrap your package and seal with tape.  We used Gold Glitter Tape, but you can use plain cellotape or washi.  Tie a bow using your Cotton Ribbon and slip in your ‘Dry Ingredients’ tag.

Anzac Cookie Packaging Step by Step

Position your belly band around your pillow box.  Once you’re happy with the position, use some tape on the back side of the package to hold it in place.

Dailylike Pillow Box in Fresh

Pop your packaged ingredients and recipe card inside your pillow box and you’re all done!  Now all that’s left to do is deliver this gorgeous package to one lucky friend or loved one.

We’ve used this Giant Anzac Cookie recipe found on, however this idea will work with any Anzac cookie recipe. So if you’ve got a go-to recipe you would like to use, just package the dry ingredients all up and make sure you don’t forget to include the recipe!

Happy baking.

Project : Be My Valentine

Be My Valentine Valentine’s Day is fast approaching! This year we made some adorable little cards using the Dailylike Fabric Stickers. The cute patterns were a perfect way to express the gooey feelings we have for that special someone. The best part is, you can make them too – and they’re totally customisable! We’ve provided free PDF templates for you to use. So go ahead, download the templates, pick your Fabric Stickers then get crafty and send some love that says “Look what I made for you!”

Here’s how…

1. Start by choosing and downloading the printable template(s) of your choice. (Click on the link under each image for the printable PDF)

2. Print your chosen design onto A4 card stock. (It helps to make sure there is no page scaling when you print.)

3. Cut along the dotted line to separate your stencil templates from the card itself. Then cut out each of the stencil silhouettes from the template half.

4. Select the fabric stickers you would like to use and trace each silhouette shape onto the back of your chosen fabric stickers. Make sure you have the shapes face down when tracing (i.e. printed side down) so that your design will be the right way when you stick them onto your card.

5. Once you have traced all of your fabric sticker pieces, use scissors to cut out these shapes. Place the cut-out pieces onto your card so you get an idea on spacing and where you want to stick each piece. Once you are happy with the layout, simply peel off the backing paper and stick each piece in place.

6. Finished! Your card is ready to write lovely words in and send to your sweetheart. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Project : Christmas Advent Prisms

Dailylike Christmas Advent Prisms

8 x A4 paper
25 x Advent treats
Double sided tape
Colouring pencils, crayons, pens or markers (optional)
– – – – –
Dailylike Christmas Advent Prisms
Download the Dailylike Advent Prisms Template and print it onto A4 paper. The template includes 25 prisms and 25 joke inserts. We have used plain copy paper for our example and it’s best to make sure there is no page scaling when you print.
Dailylike Christmas Advent Prisms
Use scissors to cut along the solid lines for each of the prisms and joke inserts. Then the colouring is optional but if you want to add some extra colour, now is the time to do it! Here we have used coloured markers.
Dailylike Christmas Advent Prisms
Take a prism and fold along the dotted lines. Unfold and lay your prism flat with the design facing up. Add double sided tape to the 3 tabs (attach on the same side as the printed design). It helps to trim the tape on diagonals to match the tabs.
Dailylike Christmas Advent Prisms
Fold in the bottom and side tabs again then peel the backing from the double sided tape. Fold the other half of the prism on top to make a pocket and press firmly along the taped edges.
Dailylike Christmas Advent Prisms
Gently squeeze the top edges of your pocket to make the prism shape, then pop a joke and treat inside.
Dailylike Christmas Advent Prisms
Peel off the backing from your top tab and tuck the tab into the prism. Press firmly along the top edge to secure this tab.
Dailylike Christmas Advent Prisms
Cut a piece of Fabric Tape to 6cm, remove the backing and attach across the top edge of your prism. Repeat for the bottom edge and you have created an Advent Prism!
Do Steps 3 to 7 for each of your cut-out prisms then gather in a basket, string into a garland or place along the mantle for an adorable count down to Christmas Day!
