Stockist Spotlight : Have you met Charlie?

With a cute quirky name, gorgeously curated store, and two lovely creative girls at the helm, what’s not to love about our Adelaide stockist Have you met Charlie?? Well that’s exactly right, we love everything! Let’s learn a little more from store owners Bec of Coloured Pears and Lauren of Mintcloud

Have you met Charlie - Adelaide

So I am sure you get asked all the time, but we have to ask! How did the name “Have you met Charlie?” come about?

We began in a little street called Charles Street off Rundle Mall. We wanted to play on the street address and incorporate it in to our store name. We have since moved but it’s a great reminder of where we started. We get asked a lot who Charlie is and really he/she is our customer. Charlie loves unique and handmade items and is a thoughtful and kind soul who always makes you feel welcome.

For us non-Adelaide locals, how would you describe your store if we were to pop in for a visit?

We may be a tad biased but Charlie is a beautiful gift store packed with colour and unique art, body products, jewellery, homewares, stationery, tea, kids products, clothing, planters and much more! We love supporting independent designers who are creating unique and handmade items. The majority of our products are by Adelaide/South Australian designers/makers and made locally, but we have also sourced a selection of interstate and international artists whose work we admire. We really love seeing our sellers grow and develop over time and will support them in anyway we can.

What is one of the best experiences that has come your way since opening Have you met Charlie?

I think for both of us it would have to be all the awesome people we have met (online and in real life) and being able to use our shop to house a bunch of amazing products and introduce new things to our customers they may never have come across otherwise.

You are both creatives with your own personal brands as well, what are some of your tips and tricks for sources of inspiration?

Bec – At the moment I love browsing through Instagram and Pinterest for inspiration. I love looking at what’s happening in fashion as it always tends to spark some ideas for new work!

Lauren – I do look at fashion colour trends and am inspired by colours and textures that appeal to me and adapting these into wearable unique pieces.

We are excited to see some of our new Dailylike goodies already in your store, which one is your absolute fave?

Ohh, that’s a hard question! Looking through the Dailylike website is a bit magical for all us craft lovers. We currently have the adorable Winter Fox kitchen gloves in store which are selling like hot cakes. We also love the gift boxes! As well as being super cute, they are very well made which makes them the perfect way to package up your gifts.

Thanks so much for your time ladies!

Stockist Spotlight : Q & A with Paper Bliss

We absolutely love our stockists and we want you to love them too! They help us bring the Dailylike collection to you, so we thought it would be a great idea for you to get to know the wonderful people behind these wonderful businesses.

For our very first Stockist Spotlight, please allow us to introduce Nadine Wiggins, owner of online store Paper Bliss.

Hi Nadine, when and how did your store come about?
I started Paper Bliss back in 2008 after making some wedding invitations for friends who then encouraged me to set up my own invitation making business. At the time there was a real gap in the Hobart market for custom made wedding invitations so Paper Bliss was born. Over the years I have made literally thousands of invitations!

In 2012 Paper Bliss underwent a makeover and my fabulous on-line store was created. At the time I was making so many invites and ordering stock regularly that it seemed to be the perfect addition to the business to sell all of the beautiful papers, card, ribbon and embellishments for people to make their own invites. As this side of the business grew I decided to step back from making invitations (and give my hands a bit of a rest!) and focus solely on the DIY market.

Obviously a big part of the Dailylike range is craft materials. Do you get to do much crafting in your own time?
I have always loved craft activities from card making to sewing to crochet. I must admit there are probably not too many things I haven’t tried! I don’t get the chance to do as much as I would like but I do enjoy spending a few hours on a weekend making cards for family and friends.

What trend do you think is particularly big right now?
The recycled vintage look. My biggest sellers are recycled kraft card matched with floral papers and tapes, lace trimmings and twine. So many Dailylike products suit this theme perfectly and I was extremely excited to be able to add this range to my store.

Do you have any favourite blogs that you look to for inspiration?
Dailylike of course! I don’t tend to follow too many blogs however I love Pinterest and I find that gives me plenty of inspiration.

What do you love most about having your own online store?
I love the flexibility that it offers. Having a 9 year old daughter I can do the school drop-off and the after school activities and still be available to answer emails and phone calls. It also gives me the chance to see all of the beautiful products on offer and provide advice to customers on product selection and hints and tips on how to make their own professional looking invitations.

Where can our readers find you?
You’ll find the online store at paperbliss.com.au plus we are also on Facebook and Pinterest.

Thanks so much Nadine!
